We see a lot of people with headaches in our Burton, MI office, and Dr. Elganainy has been able to assist many of them. Furthermore, the World Health Organization (WHO) states that one half of all adults struggle with some sort of headache problem, so this actually isn’t unexpected. One of the most typical sorts of headaches which our patients are afflicted with is cervicogenic headache which, thankfully, chiropractic can usually help.
A cervicogenic headache is one that originates from issues in the cervical spine. It might be thanks to a problem with either the spine itself (specifically, the vertebrae, joints, or discs), or it might be brought on by a problem in the muscles and tendons of your neck. This problem in your spine contributes to compression or irritation of the spinal nerves, which can bring on headache pain.
How can you recognize if the headache you are enduring is a cervicogenic headache? Aside from getting a diagnosis from a healthcare expert, a frequent symptom of cervicogenic headaches is tenderness or discomfort in your neck. This is sometimes coupled with pain in the back of your head or between your shoulder blades.
Since cervicogenic headaches will not subside until whatever issue is generating them is remedied, it is vital to receive treatment instead of just trying to "wait it out." Chiropractic care is an effective approach, and one that provides a great deal of pain relief.
In one study printed in Chiropractic & Osteopathy, researchers looked at 80 people who had frequent cervicogenic headaches. Fifty percent got chiropractic care and the other 50% underwent light massage therapy. Each participant was examined 12 and 24 weeks after the treatment and it was found that chiropractic delivered the most beneficial effects.
In particular, this study revealed that chiropractic adjustments provided patients more pain relief and lessened the number of headaches that occurred. On top of that, it also diminished the disability that resulted from these painful headaches.
